2. Where can I apply to?
With filling in just one application form, you can apply for up to 6 different degree programmes conducted in English at Universities of Applied Sciences/ Universities all over Finland.
3. Apply online
The application period begins on 7 January and closes on 20 January 2021. Apply online at www.studyinfo.fi It is important to follow all the instructions! The application form is open only during the application period. From 7 January to 20 January the service is open 24 hours per day, except for short maintenance periods during the night. Online application closes on 20 January at 3.00 pm Finnish time (+2 hrs GMT). All online applications must be submitted before the closing time.
Applicants with a Finnish qualification certificate need not submit copies of their certificates, as only the certificates of those admitted as students will be checked. However, this does not apply to applicants who have taken the Finnish matriculation examination prior to 1990, as they will need to submit copies of their certificates to the admissions offices of the relevant universities of applied sciences by the deadline specified in advance.
In order to prove their eligibility, applicants with a non-Finnish qualification certificate must submit a copy of the final certificate used as the basis for application by the deadline. The certificates must be downloaded directly to the application form.
A provisional certificate issued by the educational institution on the graduation of the applicant will be accepted as a certificate that demonstrates the applicant’s eligibility to apply if the applicant’s official diploma cannot be delivered in advance within the stated deadline due to an action taken by the authorities or any equivalent reason.
Those applying with an IB, EB or RP Diploma will need to submit certificate copies by a deadline specified in advance.
The required documents must be downloaded to the application form by the specified deadline,
27 January 2021 3p.m.
- a copy of the (foreign) degree certificate or a provisional certificate issued by the educational institution on the graduation of the applicant, together with an official translation, must be submitted to the admissions office
- Applicants applying with IB, EB or RP Diploma (* those graduating during the application period should submit a predicted grades or equivalent by 7 April 2021).
- Applicants applying with Finnish matriculation examination certificate completed prior to 1990.
4. Entrance examinations
UAS will arrange entrance examinations in February -March 2021. If you are invited to an examination, you will receive an invitation only by email. Therefore always use our own email adress when applying! Also make sure that you have enough space in your inbox and make sure that the email address provided in the online application form is correct.

5. SAT test
Besides entrance exam, applicant can also get admission on the basis of SAT test. SAT test is not compulsory.

You will receive the results of your application by 4th of June 2022 at the latest. Remember to confirm your study place in time!
7. Accepting a study place
Corfirmation of the study place is binding and cannot be altered or cancelled. You will lose the study place if you do not accept it by the deadline. As a rule only one study place is offered at the highest possible application preference. In joint application all the lower application preferences will be cancelled automatically when admitted to higher preference.
Study place can be confirmed online through secure-link provided to your email address (non-EU/EEA students without Finnish Internet banking codes).
You can accept only one study place at higher aducation institution in Finland starting at the same academic year (1st August – 31st July)
8. Reserve places
If you have not been admitted to any of your study options and are placed on a reserve place, you might be admitted on a later date.
You can only be placed on the waiting list for a reserve place at a higher-preference option. The reserve place can be one of the application options the student has given in the joint application. The applicant cannot choose a reserve place from options of a lower preference than that to which he/she has already been admitted.
Notice that UAS can also independently decide not to use any waiting list positions. In this case there is no option for an applicant to get admission from the waiting list if the number of admitted applicants is fixed.
All students are to enrol for attendance or non-attendance. Only the students who have enrolled for attendance have the right of study
According to the Polytechnics Act, a first-year student may register as absent for the academic year for the following reasons only:
- service under the Conscription Act (1438/2007), Non-Military Service Act (1446/2007), or Act on Women’s Voluntary Military Service (194/1995);
- maternity, paternity or parental leave;
- the student cannot begin studies due to being incapacitated by personal illness or injury.
Applicants (non-EU/EEA) who have to pay tuition fee cannot enroll until fee is paid! If the fee is not paid by the given deadline, study right can be revoked.

10. Commencement of Studies
Studies commence usually at the end of August/ early September. Remember to apply residence permit in time.
Students from EU countries do not need a visa/residence permit to study in Finland. Students from non-EU countries need a residence permit for a stay of more than three months in Finland.
