We are so proud of our students! Here are some of the more recent accomplishments from our fields.
Field of Technology
VAMK has won the Finnish Championship in Project Management for the second consecutive year! Ekku Jokimies, Miika Pohjola, Juuso Perälä and Arttu Hannila, as well as Adebayo Agbejule, the coach of the team, will travel to the international finals in Germany.
VAMK won the 2018 national SICK Innovation Contest with a rollator that warns with vibration of movement in its vicinity. This makes life easier for users with impaired head movement, hearing or vision. The rollator was developed by Topias Korpi, Valtteri Ritamäki and Eero Tuppi, and the group's mentor was Lecturer Mika Billing.
The project competence education leading to a master's degree, jointly executed by VAMK and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, was awarded the 2017 Academic Project Achievement prize. The prize was awarded by Project Management Association Finland (PMAF). For VAMK, the education is led by Lotta Saarikoski and Adebayo Agbejule.
Field of Commerce
International Business put together its first competition team for the Finnish Championship in Project Management and was immediately awarded silver! Nguyen Khanh Linh, Nguyen Vu Tu Phuong, Nguyen Le Diep Linh and Luong Diem Quynh successfully managed the competition project, and the team was coached by Kenneth Norrgård!
Field of Social Services and Health Care
The Queen Silvia Nursing Award, the so-called Nobel prize in health care, was in 2019 awarded to Maiju Björkqvist, nursing student at VAMK. Her competition work focused on an activation room for dementia patients. One entry from Sweden, Finland, Germany and Poland was awarded in the competition. A total of 718 entries participated in the competition.
