150 students will celebrate at the graduate school on Friday 18.12. A record 188 degrees will be completed in business this year.

Vaasa University of Applied Sciences celebrates distance graduation on Friday, where a total of 150 students will receive a diploma. In December last year, 134 students celebrated their graduation.

The year 2020 has been exceptional in many ways, and students have also changed the way they work. Especially in the autumn, much of the study has taken place remotely, and the importance of independent work has grown. Nevertheless, even more students graduate from VAMK this year than last year. A total of 577 students complete their degrees throughout the year, compared to 568 last year.

32 of the degrees are postgraduate degrees. A particularly large number of tradenoma graduates from the business degree program will graduate this year. There are a total of 188 of them graduating, of whom 59 will celebrate their degrees in December. The number of tradenomas is usually many tens of graduates lower than this year.

The celebration is celebrated on Friday as a distance graduate, which can be attended by students close to all over the world if they wish. Remote graduates were tried out at VAMK already in May with good results, so a similar type of celebration will now be held at the end of the autumn semester.

The program includes a speech by VAMK Rector Kati Komulainen to graduates and a speech by a working life representative given by Johanna Kakkuri from Wärtsilä. The student union VAMOK gives the student's speech and the music performances are provided by VAMK student Matias Nissinen, who is familiar from the tv singing competition Voice of Finland.
