VAMK’s students recently arrived from Wuhan to attend a health inspection

All four students have now attended the health inspection and no signs of infection have been found.

VAMK has students that have recently visited Wuhan, China. Cases of pneumonia were discovered in the city of Wuhan in central China in mid-December 2019 by a novel coronavirus. In China and also in Wuhan the risk for infection is low, but four VAMK’s students have been called to attend a health inspection.

The Student Health Care Services have consulted the chief physician of Infectious diseases Heikki Kaukoranta about the process. This page will be updated when new information emerges.

The virus causes pneumonia. Other symptoms are fever, coughs and breathing difficulties. In case you have questions about the virus, please contact the Student Health Care Services. Infections can be avoided with good hand hygiene. Read more about the virus at: https://thl.fi/en/web/infectious-diseases/what-s-new/wuhan-coronavirus-latest-updates
