VAMK students on bioenergy field trip to Mikkeli

Vaasa University of Applied Sciences VAMK and MHG System (www.mhgsystems.com) are cooperating in developing a supply chain for bionergy for the African environment. In connection, with, VAMK and MHG systems organized a Feedstock Fuel Supply Chain Manager Course in Mikkeli from the 24-26th  May 2011. The course was designed by Dr. Adebayo Agbejule, a principal lecturer in the department of mechanical and production engineering at VAMK, and Mr. Seppo Huurinainen, managing director of MHG systems which is one of the world`s leading suppliers of bioenergy ERP systems.

Participants included students from the specialization module in international energy technology and management and a student from Uppsala University.

During the first day of the course, participants visited Pertunmaa to see real bioenergy operation, and Hyötypaperi Oy in Valkeala, a forest waste processing and waste recycling in terminal operations. The group also visited Etelä-Savon Energia Oy to have a firsthand observation of the production of heat and electricity from wood waste on the second day of the course. Later in the afternoon, the group was introduced into bioenergy ERP functions that have been developed by MHG systems. In addition participants had hands on practice on mobile applications in Feedstock documentation and management.
