Accessibility Statement
This is the accessibility statement of Oy Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu – Vasa yrkeshögskola Ab. This statement applies to the website www.vamk.fi.
The website was published on 31 May 2022. This accessibility statement was updated on 11 August 2026.
The website is subject to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services. Under the Act, public digital services must meet the applicable accessibility requirements.
The accessibility of the website has been improved based, among other things, on an accessibility inspection carried out by the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland in 2024. Accessibility issues identified in the inspection were addressed particularly during 2025.
Accessibility status of the digital service
The website partially complies with the accessibility requirements.
Previously identified technical accessibility issues have been addressed extensively. For example, the main issues related to keyboard navigation, focus indicators and colour contrast have largely been corrected. However, individual accessibility issues may still occur in both technical solutions and user-created content.
Non-accessible content
The website may still contain the following accessibility issues:
- Some PDF and Word documents published on the website are not fully accessible.
- Some individual images may be missing alternative text, or the alternative text may not describe the content sufficiently.
- Some individual links or buttons may have an incomplete or missing accessible name.
- Individual pages or content elements may contain insufficient contrast between text and background.
- Individual issues may occur in keyboard navigation or in the visibility and behaviour of keyboard focus indicators.
- Accessibility issues have been identified in the functionality related to cookie consent and cookie preference management. These issues are related to a third-party service used on the website.
Content creators are instructed to take accessibility into account when creating web content and attachments. Despite these instructions, individual accessibility issues may still occur in content created or maintained by users.
Improving accessibility
We continuously work to improve the accessibility of our digital services and address identified accessibility issues where possible.
Oy Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu – Vasa yrkeshögskola Ab is carrying out a complete renewal of its website between autumn 2026 and spring 2027. As part of the renewal, the website’s publishing platform will also be replaced.
Accessibility will be considered throughout the design and development of the new website from the beginning of the project. The aim is to ensure that the website’s structure, user interface, technical implementation and content creation solutions support accessibility as comprehensively as possible.
An accessibility audit of the new website is planned for 2027. Any accessibility issues identified in the audit will be addressed, and the accessibility statement will be updated in connection with the launch of the new website and based on the findings of the audit.
