Study scholarship

Graduates at Vaasa University of Applied Sciences are awarded study scholarships in connection with the spring and autumn graduation celebrations in accordance with our shared values.

Criteria

The basis for awarding a scholarship is the student’s exceptional academic achievement or outstanding thesis (grade 5). The basis for the scholarship may also include the student’s active activities as a member of the higher education community and/or in working life, or some other way of working, attitude or commitment in accordance with our values, in which our values of sympathy, pioneering, customer orientation and openness are manifested.

Starting from 1 January 2023, the scholarships will be awarded twice a year in the spring and before Christmas. Decisions on awarding scholarships are made by department, and the activities are managed by the scholarship committee. The amount of the scholarship is 400- 1000 euros, taking into account the donor’s wish.

The student will be notified of receiving the scholarship and will be sent a scholarship payment form (digitally) to be completed. The scholarship must be redeemed within one year of the decision.

Athlete Scholarship

The application period for the 2024 athlete scholarship is open from April 11th to May 12th, 2024. The application for the athlete scholarship is done through the application form provided below. The amount of the athlete scholarship can be up to 1000 euros.

The student has succeeded in combining academic success with goal-oriented sports

The education units’ assistant will get notification of the scholarships applied for and will convene a Student Scholarship Committee. The proposal is made to the Rector by the Student Scholarship Committee and the Rector decides on the award of the scholarship.

The recipients of the athlete scholarships will be announced at the spring graduation ceremony. Students will be notified of receiving the scholarship, and they will be sent a scholarship payment form to be completed electronically.

Travel scholarships for degree students

The travel scholarship has a continuous application and it can be applied for and granted during the academic year by decision of the heads of the education units. Applying is done using the application form. The travel scholarship for degree students is a maximum of 400 euros.

Criteria

A student can apply for a scholarship by participating in a university-led personal curriculum-based study abroad that accumulates credits.
You cannot get a travel scholarship if get an Erasmus grant or other grant for the trip
