The platform aims at

finding and implementing actions that promote industries’ carbon neutrality. Smart Industry uses digitalisation to develop green and smart industry.

Tools to reach targets are

Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Big Data Analysis, Virtual Reality (VR) and Cyber ​​Security, 3D printing and robotics.

Additionally, the aim is to study and promote

opportunities for decentralised energy production in Ostrobothnia. New types of energy storage solutions and questions related to hydrogen technology.

Ossi Koskinen is passioned about research and development in the energy sector

Ossi  works as a senior lecturer in VAMK’s business administration unit, has a doctorate in business sciences and did his dissertation on management. In 2006, however, a flame was ignited in the management team of the joint energy institute of VAMK, ​​the University of Vaasa and Novia, which has not dimmed.

”My own interest is strongly linked to the environment. Global warming is a fact, and in order to slow it down, we must focus on developing renewable energy solutions and related technologies, such as energy storage. Vaasa region has excellent prospects for developing also new business models, and the Smart Industry platform can be an important partner there as well.”

VAMK’s RDI platform serves also the small and medium sized companies in the region by by offering the most recent scientific research results from Finland and abroad.
