Resilient Industry and Critical Infrastructure – Maintaining Operational Capability in Times of Uncertainty

The first AIMday held in Finland in 2025 received highly positive feedback, and the event now returns with a new theme. This year’s focus is on Resilient Industry and Critical Infrastructure. Throughout the day, discussions will explore how industry, energy infrastructure, logistics, and other critical societal functions can maintain their operational capability in the face of disruptions, change, and uncertainty. Current challenges will be examined together with companies, experts, researchers, and students.

The topics covered range from resilient energy systems and supply-chain resilience to autonomous systems, cyber-physical solutions, material availability, and human-technology collaboration. The aim is to share experiences, identify new perspectives, and strengthen collaboration between different stakeholders.

The event offers a unique opportunity to

  • share knowledge and insights across disciplines,
  • discuss practical challenges and future opportunities,
  • identify new collaboration partners as well as research and development ideas,
  • build networks between companies, experts, researchers, and students.

AIMday (Academic Industry Meeting Day) is a concept developed by Uppsala University, based on practical collaboration between industry and academia. Companies and organisations submit questions and challenges in advance, which form the basis for small-group discussions. Each topic is explored in a one-hour workshop where company representatives, experts, researchers, and students exchange ideas and identify new opportunities for collaboration.

When Registering

Please note that the event includes parallel sessions. This means that several discussion groups will run simultaneously from 9:00 to 10:00, followed by another set of discussion groups from 10:20 to 11:20. You may register for one discussion group in each time slot. You may also register additional participants from your organisation when completing the registration form.

The registration form requires you to submit at least one challenge. A challenge may be a question, problem, development need, or future opportunity for which you would like to receive new perspectives, research-based insights, or experiences from other participants. Your challenge may relate, for example, to energy system resilience, supply-chain security, automation, maintenance, logistics, or any of the other event themes. The more specific your description, the better the discussion can be tailored to your needs.

Please note that submitting a challenge is mandatory. Registration cannot be completed until at least one challenge has been provided. One challenge is sufficient, but you are welcome to submit more. The challenges received will be used in finalising the programme and will be shared with facilitators to support the group discussions.

When submitting your challenge, please clearly indicate which discussion group you would like to participate in. We reserve the right to modify the programme based on the challenges received.
