Collaboration with Accra Technical University in Ghana
Accra Technical University in Ghana and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) have signed an agreement to restart a top-up programme. The programme allows students with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Ghana to study at VAMK for one year before completing their practical training and thesis at Accra Technical University.
The agreement was preceded by productive discussions during a visit by VAMK’s leadership to Ghana in late April. During the visit VAMK’s Director of School of Business, Elina Martin, Director of School of Technology, Mira Grönvall and Principal Lecturer, Dr. Adebayo Agbejule met with representatives and leadership from Accra Technical University. They brought home the collaboration agreement for VAMK’s CEO, President Hannu Vahtera to sign.
The agreement represents a significant step forward in strengthening a long-standing global cooperation between the two institutions.
“We are thrilled to see the students from Accra Technical University to arrive in Vaasa from next year onwards,” says Vahtera.
There have already been good experiences from a similar agreement between Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and Accra Technical University. Between 2010 and 2015, a total of 50 engineering and business students studied at VAMK under the top-up agreement.
