UIR and VAMK Signed MoU to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration
The Université Internationale de Rabat (UIR) and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK), Finland, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in education, research, and innovation. The agreement, signed in June 2025, marks an important milestone in fostering international collaboration between the two institutions.
Following the signing, the student exchange programme has already been launched in the fields of Business, Computer Science, and Nursing, offering students opportunities to study abroad, gain global perspectives, and develop intercultural skills. In addition to mobility, the collaboration extends to research, development and innovation (RDI) initiatives and participation in Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), promoting active engagement between students, researchers, and faculty members.
The partnership was facilitated with the support of the Embassy of Finland in Rabat and Business Finland Morocco, whose contributions were instrumental in connecting the two universities and supporting the development of the agreement.
The MoU signing followed a visit to UIR by Ms. Sirpa Rutanen, Head of Communications & Marketing, and Dr. Daniel Sahebi, Senior Lecturer at VAMK. Their meetings with UIR colleagues focused on advancing academic exchange, exploring joint RDI activities, and strengthening international collaboration between Finland and Morocco.
“We are delighted with the outcome of our visit to UIR and the signing of this MoU. The partnership opens exciting opportunities for students and faculty alike and lays a strong foundation for future collaboration in education, research, and innovation,” comment Rutanen and Sahebi.
Both UIR and VAMK look forward to expanding the collaboration and creating new opportunities that benefit students, staff, and the wider academic community.
