Hankkeen kuvaus

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of social sector workplaces to utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) in daily work. The project addresses major challenges in the sector, including labor shortages, high workloads, organizational changes, and gaps in digital skills. Activities are nationwide and implemented by a consortium of five universities of applied sciences in collaboration with social sector companies, welfare regions, and organizations. The project gathers an overview of the participating organizations’ needs, pilots AI use in practical tasks, and provides training, support, and tools for the ethical and safe use of AI in the workplace.

The project is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF+) with a budget of €243,755.

Goals

The primary objective of the project is to enhance productivity and well-being in the social sector by strengthening staff and management competencies in the use of generative AI. Specific goals include: improving understanding of the ethical and secure use of AI, streamlining work processes and reducing manual tasks, and enhancing the meaningfulness and efficiency of work. Additionally, the project aims to develop new practices and operating models for the social sector that become a permanent part of organizational routines and support the sector’s ability to attract and retain talent.

Results

The project will produce an AI roadmap tailored for social sector organizations, ethical and data security guidelines, and practical guides, including materials for prompting and onboarding. Several AI experiments and pilots will be carried out, generating case studies, videos, and other disseminable materials. Organizations will gain access to tested and functional operating models that reduce workload, streamline processes, and free up time for client work. The results are expected to improve the quality of working life in the social sector in the long term and enhance the capacity to utilize AI in a sustainable and responsible manner.
