Project description
The KAAPU project is a training project implemented by the Vaasa University of Applied Sciences to strengthen the knowledge of the planning sector, especially with regard to clean transition projects. The project aims to strengthen the skills of the planning sector, especially in projects that support clean transition, such as renewable energy projects. The project will be implemented by Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with public authorities and consultancy firms. The aim is to create a comprehensive training package covering key zoning procedures and their application to clean transition projects such as wind, solar and bioenergy projects. The training aims to improve the skills of planning professionals and enhance the efficiency of land use and permitting procedures for clean transition projects. Courses will focus on issues such as zoning legislation, sustainable land use, water management and information model-based zoning.
Goals
The project aims to streamline land use permitting procedures for clean transition projects and to produce learning materials to support understanding and management of the land use processes in clean transition projects and to increase the knowledge of the land use planning sector. The training is expected to produce qualified experts who can work effectively in the field of land use planning and promote clean transition projects. The training will provide students with a basic knowledge of land use planning and its practical application. Particular attention will be paid to sustainable land use, zoning legislation, water management and information model-based zoning.
Results
The key result of the KAAPU project is a training package consisting of six independent study modules, totalling 15 credits:
- Sustainable land use and the built environment (2 credits)
- Sustainable urban development and urban planning (3 credits)
- Land use and legislation (2 credits)
- Land use planning procedures for clean transition projects (3 credits)
- Water management in clean transition projects (3 ECTS)
- Computer modelling of land use planning (2 cr)
As a result, the project will improve the knowledge of land-use planning and provide participants with the opportunity to apply their learning directly in the workplace. The materials and teaching methods created during the training will remain part of the offer of the Open University of Applied Sciences of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, which guarantees the continuity of the training after the end of the project. In this way, the project not only complements knowledge in the field of planning, but also creates a permanent basis for meeting future needs in clean transition projects.
