Project description
Mindful Aging is a project funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, which was launched in September 2020 and will last 36 months. This project, which will end in August 2023, involves organizations from Bulgaria, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland and Great Britain.
Goals
The Mindful Aging project emphasizes the importance of positive aging. The goal of the project is to promote healthy lifestyles among people over the age of 50. In addition, the goal is to help aging people before and after retirement to have a positive attitude towards aging and to actively take care of their well-being. This interesting project offers an opportunity to learn about mindfulness and the methods of positive psychology.
Results
The results of the project can be divided into four parts. The first result is a report aimed at decision-makers and organizations aiming to support the over-50s, and it is freely available to everyone. The report examines, among other things, the current situation of the aging population in Europe, and it includes the experiences of more than 50 people with positive psychological interventions. Another result is a training program lasting a few days, where the participants have the opportunity to learn about the importance of mental and physical well-being. The third result is support groups, which function as small peer mentoring groups with 5-8 participants. Groups meet at least three times. The fourth result is the Mindful Aging Online Academy, which consists of online courses and an online network for both the elderly and support workers.
