Online store delivery and cancellation terms

About the online store
The services and products in the online store are sold by Vaasa University of Applied Sciences Ltd (business ID 2267669-3). Our services and products are available for purchase by private individuals aged 18 and over. The VAT rates in the online store are separately indicated for each service and product. We reserve the right to change the delivery terms and prices, and to make changes to the information (such as study unit timetables).
Choose the services and products that you want to order by adding them to your basket on the homepage. Submit your order by paying for the items in the basket through the online store’s checkout function. By placing an order, you agree to these delivery terms, the product prices and the delivery costs.
All orders are confirmed via email, specifying the services and products that have been ordered, the price of the order as well as any delivery fees. To receive an order confirmation, please provide your email address when placing an order. The confirmation will state which services and products have been ordered and what their price is.
In addition to the confirmation email, you will receive a payment confirmation from the Paytrail transaction service, stating the total amount paid, the transaction ID and date. Please contact Paytrail (+358 (0)20 718 email@example.com) if you have any questions about a transaction.
The registration procedure for education may vary, so please remember to check the details on the product page. Registration is typically done by purchasing the education product in question via the online store. Students are primarily accepted for studies in order of registration (except for e.g. YAMK studies). Some study units have limited places available, so students may not always be able to enrol in their preferred study units.
Registrations are binding, and by registering you agree to the education-specific terms found on the education-specific pages. By registering, you also confirm that you will take part in the education at your own risk.
Studying in the open university of applied sciences costs €15/credit. Alternatively, you can complete an unlimited number of credits per term for a €150 tuition fee per term (the term dates are 1 August–31 December and 1 January–31 July). Additionally, every study unit may involve fees for study materials and photocopies. Studies in the open university of applied sciences are free for Vamia’s väylä students and sports path students. The fees are based on the Government Decree on Fees Charged by the Universities of Applied Sciences (1440/2014).
The products and any delivery fees are paid when placing an order. The following payment methods are available in the online store: Nordea, Osuuspankki, Danske Bank, Ålandsbanken, Handelsbanken, S-Pankki, Aktia, Säästöpankki, POP Pankki, Oma Säästöpankki, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, MobilePay, Pivo and Siirto. The transactions are made via Paytrail.
Payment service provider
Paytrail (business ID 2122839-7) serves as the payment and transaction service provider together with Finnish banks and credit institutions. It transfers a payment to the vendor and is shown as the payment recipient on a bank statement or card payment receipt. The company has a licence to operate as a payment institution. If you wish to make a complaint, we kindly ask that you first contact the product supplier.

Vaasa University of Applied Sciences does not charge a delivery fee for services or collected products.
Once you have registered via the online store and paid for your order, your participation is confirmed. Next, you will receive more information about the education via email.
The user credentials for online courses and courses that involve online studies are provided at the time of registration to the email address provided by the user.
Vaasa University of Applied Sciences aims to provide its services as agreed. If the timetables change, we will notify the customers immediately. A course will take place if a sufficient number of students have registered for it by the last registration date.
Vaasa University of Applied Sciences Ltd will not be responsible for any delays or indirect harm caused by a delayed delivery occurring due to force majeure.
Once you have paid for your order, the products will be packed and delivered to you as soon as possible, typically within a week from your order. If your order includes products that are not in stock, we will deliver them to you as soon as they are back in stock. In that case, we will contact you about the matter.
The delivery fee for a product is determined according to the chosen delivery method, any additional services, and the weight and size of the order. You can view the delivery fee at the online store’s checkout before confirming your order. If a product goes missing or is damaged during the delivery, you must notify the online store without delay and no later than within 14 days. You must also notify the delivery company without delay of any parcels that have been damaged during delivery.
Rights, responsibilities and restrictions
Devices, software and data connections
A customer must acquire all the devices, software and data connections, as well as any other necessary services, required for an online course at their own expense and risk, and will be responsible for their safety, functioning and the cost of using and maintaining them.
A customer registered for the online store must activate their credentials via suomi.fi through strong identification. Those who are unable to do so can receive their username and password either via email or by picking them up in person from VAMK’s service point. Every user is responsible for keeping their username and password secret and for their use. Transferring or disclosing credentials to an external party is forbidden.
Online course materials will remain available for a customer for 1–12 months, depending on the course, from the date that the customer received their credentials for the service. The exact duration is specified in the product description. After the availability period, the customer’s right to access the course material will end automatically.
Intellectual property rights
All the intellectual property rights pertaining to the online courses, exercises and other written and electronic material belong to Vaasa University of Applied Sciences Ltd. This agreement does not transfer any intellectual property rights to the customer. All the education and training material is solely intended for the personal use of customers who have bought the product in question. Any dissemination, copying, distribution or other actions that violate the intellectual property rights are expressly prohibited. If we detect any misconduct, the customer’s user credentials will be cancelled. A breach of the intellectual property rights will also result in damages.
The online store has a statutory liability for the products it has sold. In case of a complaint, we ask that you contact our customer services. Consumers have a right to submit any disputes to the Consumer Disputes Board for a resolution.
The online store’s limit of liability
The online store will not be responsible for any disruptions to its operation due to e.g. maintenance, technical faults or other similar reasons, or for any outages in the data connections or on the internet. In addition to that, the online store will not be held responsible for any errors or omissions in the service, or any direct or indirect damage caused by the use or interpretation of the information contained by the service. Furthermore, the online store will not be responsible for any direct or indirect damage that may be caused by the functioning or non-functioning of the service. In all cases, the online store’s liability is limited to the amount of payments received from a customer within a period of 12 months.
Industrial action, an explosion, a fire, a natural disaster, disruptions in telecommunications, an order by public officials or some other form of force majeure that is not within the agreement parties’ powers and has an effect on this online store, the Vendor or its subcontractor will exempt a party from the obligations of this agreement while the obstacle is taking effect and for a reasonable time after the obstacle has ceased to exist, until the prerequisites for the fulfilment of the obligations have been restored.
By registering for our studies, you commit to our cancellation terms. You can cancel your registration within 14 days of making it. Cancellations made within that time are free. All cancellations must be made in writing. Vaasa University of Applied Sciences reserves the right to make changes to the information provided in the study programme.
Customers who purchase an online course or education that involves online studies will receive personal user credentials. Once a customer has received their credentials, they may begin to take the online course immediately and, therefore, will no longer be able to cancel their registration.
The online store’s customer has a right to exchange or receive a refund for their purchase within 14 days, in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act. A customer has a right to exchange or return some or all of the products they have ordered. Products that are to be exchanged or returned must be in their original packets and in a condition that allows them to be sold again. If you would like to return or exchange products, please contact the online store and ask for instructions. We will not accept or process any products returned without notifying us first.
