Strong Growth and Impact

The year 2025 was a time of development and renewal for Vaasa University of Applied Sciences. Our activities expanded in both education and research, development, and innovation (RDI). We achieved several strategic goals. In 2025, significantly more students graduated on schedule than in 2024. In addition, the number of Master’s-level degrees in particular, as well as external RDI funding, exceeded expectations.

A New Structure Supports the Strategy

Our organisation was restructured to meet future needs. Education and related support services were brought together, and our RDI activities were strengthened as a distinct entity. Changes to the ownership structure of our institution were completed, and the increasingly close collaboration with the University of Vaasa, now in the form of a shared higher education group, provides a strong foundation for an even more robust and attractive academic community.

Attractiveness, Visibility and Results

VAMK’s attractiveness and visibility grew significantly. The number of international students and tuition fee income increased, and communications strengthened the institution’s appeal and its position as a regional and societal influencer. Indicators measuring the quality of education improved across the board. Our turnover also increased, and the financial result for the year showed a clear surplus.

Looking ahead

We are purposefully building future expertise. In 2026, new degree programs will be launched, including an Industrial Engineering program and an English-language Nursing program. At the same time, we are investing in smooth student progression and graduation, collaboration with working life, and international competitiveness.

We would like to thank our students, staff, and partners for a successful year. VAMK will continue to grow responsibly, boldly renewing itself while strengthening regional vitality. Moving forward together!
