Kaneli the Reading Dog
The Finnish Kennel Club’s reading dog activities will start at VAMK in autumn 2026. With a reading dog, you can practise reading, giving presentations or speaking a foreign language. The reading dog’s role is simply to be present and listen to the reader.
Kaneli, the reading dog visiting VAMK, listens calmly and kindly, without judging mistakes, hesitation or a slow pace. A dog’s presence can help you relax and ease the nervousness that may come with practising. The aim is to make practising feel safe, relaxed and encouraging.
Reading dog activities are part of animal-assisted activities and are based on voluntary participation.

Book an Appointment with Kaneli the Reading Dog
Reading dog Kaneli is available for sessions every other Wednesday at 4:30 pm and 4:50 pm. Each session lasts 15 minutes. The sessions take place at Wolffintie 30, room A1126.
Bookings are binding. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, please cancel your appointment as early as possible so that Kaneli does not come to the session unnecessarily.
You are welcome to bring your own reading material to the session, such as a school assignment you need to present, an article in a foreign language, or any other text you would like to practise with. If you do not have your own material, there will also be reading material available at the venue.
Please read the instructions provided when booking your session carefully before your appointment.
The booking calendar will open within the next few weeks.
